NEPALGUNJ, Dec 6: The staff of the Nepalgunj Airport are concerned after a wild animal Nilgai ( Indian Antelope) was found near the runway of Nepalgunj Airport on Tuesday morning. Preparations are being made to chase the animal away from the runway.
Airport Chief Suresh Prasad Khanal said that efforts are being made to drive away the Nilgai, which is still hiding in the bushes near the runway. "Now we are in the runway area of the airport, everyone including the security personnel are trying to get the Nilgai out," Khanal informed Republica. According to him, the Nilgai was found near the runway around 8 am on Tuesday morning.

Chief Khanal said that the airport is open despite the presence of nilgai on the runway. He said, "The airport is still open, so far there has been no problem."
Currently, 14 large flights are flying to Kathmandu and Pokhara only through the Nepalgunj Airport. Apart from this, about a dozen flights are made daily by small planes from Nepalgunj to Karnali and the hilly districts of Sudurpaschim Province.
Even before this, there were several cases of boars colliding with planes on the runway.
