SEOUL, March 27: Non- Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) South Korea chapter has collected Rs 11.5 million from Nepali migrant workers there to provide the Government of Nepal with essential medical equipment and supplies.
Issuing a press release on Saturday, NRNA South Korea informed that the amount was raised through ‘One Person, One Kit’ campaign launched by the association.
NRNA Korea shows interest to invest in Nepal
According to General Secretary of NRNA South Korea Bimal Subedi, the association is planning to send the aid in two phases. 2000 pieces of test kits will be sent in the first while other medical equipment in the second phase.
As of March 28, Nepal has tested 875 suspects of COVID-19 where 870 have been tested negative and five have been tested positive. The first person has already returned home after being recovered while four others are undergoing treatment.
However, the Government of Nepal has been not able to make significant numbers of tests due to a lack of test kits.
