Nepal to play Scotland on June 10, 12

KATHMANDU, March 21:Nepal’s match of the ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Championship against Scotland has been scheduled for June 10 and 12, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) said on Friday.

Organizing a press conference in the capital on Friday after holding a board meeting, CAN acting General Secretary Uttam Karmachary said that Nepal will visit Scotland to play two 50-over matches of WCL Championship.


Nepal earned a place for ICC WCL Championship after it finished fourth in the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 a couple of months earlier in Namibia. It will be the first match of the WCL Championship that features eight teams including Nepal, Scotland, Kenya, UAE, the Netherland, Papua New Guinea, Namibia and Hong Kong. The event will be held from 2015 to 2017. All matches will be given list A status.  




A month after the completion of two 50-over matches in Scotland, Nepal will again visit the same country to play qualifiers for the ICC World T20 scheduled to be held from July 10 to 26.

According to Karmacharya, Nepal will go England for a 10-day tour to prepare for T20 Qualifiers after spending a week at home country. CAN has also decided to hire foreign batting and bowling coach as per the recommendation of coach Pubudu Dassanayake ahead of its departure to England.   



CAN also informed that Bangladesh A team will visit Nepal in later march. CAN has planned to host Bangladesh A on March 30.



Meanwhile, the executive committee meeting of CAN has also endorsed the annual budget of around Rs 142 million. Out of the total budget, CAN will get Rs 92 million from International Cricket Council (ICC) and Rs 19 million from Asian Cricket Council. CAN is planning to acquire remaining amount mobilizing its resources and from the government of Nepal.
