KATHMANDU, July 31: In a major boost to Nepalese cricket, the country has been confirmed as the host nation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, paving the way for an electrifying start to 2026.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday that Nepal will stage the high-stakes qualifier tournament, scheduled to run from January 12 to February 2 next year.

A total of ten teams will vie for a coveted spot in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be held in England and Wales. The participating sides will be split into two groups of five, with the top three from each pool progressing to the Super Six stage. From there, the top four finishers will punch their tickets to the World Cup. The ICC is expected to release the official fixture list in the coming weeks.
Nepal earned a historic berth in the Global Qualifier after finishing runners-up in the Asian Regional Qualifier—marking its maiden appearance at this level. Joining Nepal and table-toppers Thailand from Asia is the USA, who booked their place through the Americas Qualifier.
Bangladesh and Ireland have already secured direct entry into the Global Qualifier thanks to their participation in the 2024 edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The final lineup will be completed once the qualifiers from the Africa, Europe (two teams each), and East Asia-Pacific (one team) regions are confirmed.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is slated to be co-hosted by England and Wales from June 12 to July 5, and will showcase the best of global women’s cricket in a thrilling battle for T20 supremacy.
