KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Nepal Telecom is set to provide free Wi-Fi internet service at all the airports operating in the country.
In this regard, an agreement was reached between Nepal Telecom and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Friday. The agreement was signed by Binita Shrestha, Chief Commercial Officer of Nepal Telecom and Jagannath Niraula, Deputy Director General of CAAN.
There are currently 34 airports operating across the country. As per the agreement, Nepal Telecom will connect a free Wi-Fi network in the arrival and departure hall towards the international and domestic terminals of Tribhuvan International Airport. It is mentioned in the agreement that free Wi-Fi internet service will be implemented in other airports in a phased manner.
CAAN will provide the appropriate location necessary to connect the equipment for the operation and management of the free WiFi network service.
Similarly, CAAN will also provide mobile charging stations for the convenience of passengers. Nepal Telecom will set up an information and assistance room at a convenient location inside the airport for the convenience of passengers.
