Nepal sees fall in import and rise in export

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: The import of foreign goods has decreased while export has increased in the first four months of the current fiscal year 2077/78 BS.

According to the data made public by the Department of Customs, import of foreign goods has declined by 10 percent with the export rise by 10 percent. In the first four months of the current fiscal year, the foreign goods worth amounting to Rs 402 billion have been imported according to the department.


This is the decrease by 10.62 percent in comparison to the corresponding period last year. Likewise, the goods exported during the period was worth amounting to Rs 40.2 billion which was 10.81 percent increment in comparison to the last year. According to the data, Nepal saw trade deficit of Rs 3.62 billion in the corresponding period of four months. This is 12.49 percent decline compared to the last year.
