Nepal's Arika Gurung reaches Karate finals in the 19th Asian Games

KATHMANDU, Oct 7:  Nepali Karate player Arika Gurung has secured her spot in the finals in the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, guaranteeing at least a silver medal.

KATHMANDU, Oct 7:  Nepali Karate player Arika Gurung has secured her spot in the finals in the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, guaranteeing at least a silver medal.


In the women's 68 kg weight category semi-finals, Gurung triumphed over Hong Kong's Yan Kai Ho with a score of 8-4, securing her place in the finals. Earlier in the day, she defeated Japan's Yuzuki Sawae in the quarterfinals, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw, but Gurung clinched the win based on senshu (the first point scored).

In the final, Gurung is set to face off against Kazakhstan's Sofia Berultsevas. This achievement marks Nepal's second medal at the ongoing 19th Asian Games, following their earlier bronze medal win in women's Kabaddi.
