KATHMANDU, Aug 31: Nepal Republic Media Pvt. Ltd. organized a special program on the occasion of Teej, a cultural festival of Hindu women, at Dhobighat in Lalitpur on Tuesday.
The program started with an enchanting song, “Happy Teej” sung by Nisha Deshar. Clad in red and green outfit to suit the festival’s theme, women danced blissfully to the tune of the song.
Deshar presented enlivened the program with her songs like, ‘Maruni’, ‘Jamana Kharab Cha’, and ‘Lat Laagyo’ while Ritu Kandel, a folk singer, performed her popular numbers “Dhoko Puryaideu”, “Raato Saari Sarak Sarak Sarkyaudai”, and “Jhutto Maya Jaal” from her Teej album.
Teej takes
Singer Anita Chalaune performed her Teej song of the year, featuring Pashupati Sharma, “Jhyammai Barilai”, and her last year’s Teej song, “Nachideu Jhilke”.
Singer Sabina Karki sang some old melodious songs in her own style that mesmerized the crowd.
Not only for the Teej celebration, but also to inspire and make women aware of their rights, the singers claimed to have given their best in their performances.
“Alongside love, my songs give messages of awareness to the women,” Anita Chalaune told Republica Online.
Speaking at the program, Shobha Gyawali, Director of Nepal Republic Media Pvt. Ltd, said, “How at least a day can help working women recharge their energies and enjoy without thinking about their problems.” Gyawali added, "Women should get together to share their joys and sorrows with each other amidst hectic working hours."
