KATHMANDU, August 19: Nepal recorded 623 new cases of COVID-19 along with 487 recoveries and zero death from the deadly virus on Friday, according to the information released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 4,945 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 246 PCR and 377 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the virus.

There are currently 5,079 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 4,834 are in self-isolation, 190 in institutional isolation, 49 in ICUs and six on ventilators. So far, 11,990 people have died from the virus across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 143 cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Of them, 126 cases were recorded in Kathmandu, four in Bhaktapur, and 13 in Lalitpur districts.
