Nepal records 2,444 new cases on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Nepal recorded as many as 2,444 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 313 recoveries and one death, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Nepal recorded as many as 2,444 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 313 recoveries and one death, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).


As many as 15,033 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 1,981 PCR and 463 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 9,634 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 8,867 are in home isolation, 655 in institutional isolation, 93 in ICUs, and 19 on ventilators. Similarly, 113 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,607 people have died of the viral infection across the country.


On Tuesday, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,286 cases of the virus. Of them, 980 were recorded in Kathmandu, 85 in Bhaktapur, and 221 in Lalitpur districts.
