Nepal is playing against Laos today in PM’s Cup football tournament

KATHMANDU, March 22: Nepal is playing against Laos today in the first match of the Prime Minister's Cup tri-nation football tournament.

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has organized the tri-nation football tournament by inviting Bhutan and Laos teams after the FIFA window.

The match between Nepal and Laos will start at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor at 6PM. The ticket price for general parapet has been fixed at Rs 500 and that for the VIP parapet has been fixed at Rs 1000 per ticket.

Nepal is going to play with Laos for the first time since 2016. In the final of the AFC Solidarity Cup, Nepal defeated Laos 3-0 in a penalty shootout. Before that, the match was tied 2-2 in regular time.

The new coach of Nepal, Vincent Alberto Enes, is starting the responsibility of the Nepal team from the Prime Minister's Cup tri-national football tournament.

After Abdullah Al Mutairi resigned last August, ANFA appointed Enes through an open competition on February 23.

Coach Enes said that they are ready for new challenges by including the best players available in a short time. He has introduced six new faces in the national team.

Addressing the press conference on Tuesday, Nepali team captain Kiran Chemjong also said that despite the short preparation time, they are ready to give an impressive performance against Laos.

Nepal will play against Bhutan on March 28 . The top two teams will play the final on 31st March  based on the points obtained after the three teams play against each other. The title winner of the competition will receive USD 5000 and the runner-up will receive USD 3000.

The best player of the tournament will receive USD 500 and the player of the match of each game will receive USD 250. The prize money was supported by the National Sports Council.
