Nepal Insurance holds AGMs

KATHMANDU, June 22: Nepal Insurance Company, the first insurance company of the country, held its 59th and 60th annual general meetings in capital on Monday.



On the occasion, the company announced that it posted operating profit of Rs 25.39 million in 2007/08 and Rs 20.81 million in 2008/09. Likewise, issuing a press release, the company said it earned operating profit of Rs 68.50 million over the first nine months of the current fiscal year.



The company operates with a paid up capital of Rs 102.60 million and has been selling general insurance products such as fire, motor, marine and engineering, among others.



The company further stated that it would enhance features of its medical insurance policy and also add new branches and contact offices to cater to the insurance needs of hydropower projects. Presently, Nepal Insurance Company has seven branches, two contact offices and four collection centers.



The AGM also unanimously elected Bhagawat Krishna Shrestha, Prabhu Krishna Shrestha and Satya Narayan Manandhar as its new members of its board of directors.
