Present in the meeting were Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Jhapa, Ilam, and Panchthar and security officials and magistrate of Darjeeling of India. [break]
Partaking from Nepalese delegation was CDO Narendraraj Sharma, whereas Darjeeling Magistrate Dr. Sumitra Mohan was on behalf of India.
CDO Sharma informed that the meeting discussed controlling of border encroachment and Dasgaja, repair of border pillars, controlling criminal activities and smuggling in border, and identification of those carrying weapons, and stopping shelter of criminals, controlling fake currency, drugs, human trafficking, customs simplification and increasing banking and money exchange transactions.
Likewise, they also agreed to form a joint task force for minimizing conflict between humans and elephants in Jhapa district of Nepal with representatives of both countries in local level and mobilizing joint patrol across the border for elephant patrol.
