Nepal-India meet concludes

RAJBIRAJ, March 18: A meeting of administrative and security officials of both Nepal and India on various issues including Nepal-India border related problems and river embankment concluded in Birpur, India on Saturday.



The meeting focused discussion on the embankment constructed by Indian side to prevent natural flow of the Khando River in Saptari and the dispute it has subsequently triggered. [break]



Informing media about the meeting discussions, District Magistrate of Supaul, Kumar Ravi said problems would be resolved after making on-site visit of the area by a joint team comprising both sides officials on coming March 23.



The meeting also decided to jointly inspect the no-human zone (Dasgaja) on coming April regarding growing disappearance of border pillars and encroachment of Nepali territory, said Saptari Chief District Officer, Krishna Chandra Ghimire.



The Nepali side has pledged to provide security support in connection with the works carried out to control the Koshi River.



Both the sides have agreed to make serious efforts to resolve the disputes ensued by to-be-constructed pilot channels along Prakashpur- Rajabas area in Sunsari and Gobargada, Saptari.
