Nepal-India border coordination meeting held

DODHARA CHANDANI (Kanchanpur), March 14: A Nepal-India border coordination meeting concluded in Mahendranagar on Wednesday with an agreement to boost security in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India.

In the meeting, the security officials of both countries also agreed on working to control criminal activities in the Nepal-India border area.

The Lok Sabha elections to be held in India and issues of mutual interest at the local level were discussed in the meeting, said Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kanchanpur, Gopal Kumar Adhikari.

Navneet Pandey, the head of Champawat district in India, said that the discussions were held for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India and to solve the problems at the local level. Pandey said there is a campaign to make Uttarakhand drug-free by 2025 and there is commitment on the part of Nepal as well.

CDO of Kanchanpur, Adhikari, Assistant CDO Dharmaraj Joshi, Superintendent of Police of Kanchanpur Chakraraj Joshi, and Superintendent of Armed Police Force Khagendra Bahadur Chand represented Nepal in the meeting.
