KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Nepal is one of the cool places to visit in 2016, according to the National Geographic Traveller. In the ‘The Cool List: 16 for 2016’ published on Tuesday, the popular travel publication has listed Nepal as one of the cool places to visit next year. It has placed Nepal in the sixth spot among the round up of 16 cool locations.
Tourist numbers to Nepal plummeted by 85 percent after the devastating earthquakes, but the country is once more open for business and safe to visit, with a new government-backed website providing official updates on affected areas, UK-based magazine has described Nepal, adding, “This is a nation that has long relied heavily on tourism, with many visitors lured by the chance to combine volunteerism with an adventure holiday in a stunning landscape.” At a time when Nepal is trying to reposition itself -- after the devastating earthquake of April 25 -- on the global tourism map, the list published in the popular magazine is expected to help the country’s tourism industry
