Nepal has lowest recovery rate and highest active case rate in South Asia

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Of the eight countries in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Nepal has the lowest recovery rate of 70.3 percent and the highest 29.2 percent of active cases.

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Of the eight countries in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Nepal has the lowest recovery rate of 70.3 percent and the highest 29.2 percent of active cases.


According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal has recorded 105,684 cases of which 74,252 have recovered as of Saturday.

According to the data issued by the health ministry, Pakistan has the highest recovery rate of 95.3 percent followed by the Maldives (89.3 %) and India (85.5 %).


Likewise, Bhutan has a recovery rate of 83.9 percent where Afghanistan has a recovery rate of 83.4 percent.


Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka are the countries with a recovery rate below 80 percent. Bangladesh has a recovery rate of 77.0 percent while Nepal and Sri Lanka have a recovery rate of 70.3 and 73.0 percent, respectively.


Similarly, among the eight countries in the SAARC region, Bhutan is the only country with zero COVID-19 fatality rate.


Afghanistan has the highest of 3.7 percent death rate followed by Pakistan (2.1 %), Bangladesh and India (1.5%), Nepal (0.6%), the Maldives and Sri Lanka (0.3%).
