Nepal enters semifinal as group leader

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Nepal has entered semi-finals as a group leader after registering fourth straight win in the ongoing Women T20 Smash Cricket Tournament underway in Thailand.


Today, Nepal defeated host team Thailand by nine wickets in the last match of the group stage held at Terdthai Cricket Ground, Bangkok. Nepal reached the target of 20 runs in 3.3 overs at the loss of one wicket. Mamata Kumari Chaudhary, Neri Thapa and Doli Bhatt scored 8, 5 and 2 runs respectively to secure Nepal's win.

Earlier, Thailand had won the toss and elected to bat first. Thailand was all out for 19 runs. Arati Bidari took highest three wickets for Nepal. Likewise, Indu Barma and Sarita Magar took two wickets each while Rubina Chhetri, Sonu Khadka and Sita Rana Magar shared one wicket each.


Nepal Women national cricket team is participating in the international tournament after a gap of two years under the coaching of the former captain of Nepal cricket team Binod Das. Nepal will now face the runner-up team from group B in the semi-final.
