Nepal, El Salvador establish formal diplomatic relations

NEW YORK, Sept 22: Nepal and El Salvador have established formal bilateral diplomatic relations. The two countries on Wednesday signed a joint communique to this effect on the sidelines of the ongoing 71st session of United Nations General Assembly (NGA) in New York.

NEW YORK, Sept 22: Nepal and El Salvador have established formal bilateral diplomatic relations. The two countries on Wednesday signed a joint communiqué to this effect on the sidelines of the ongoing 71st session of United Nations General Assembly (NGA) in New York.


Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, who is leading Nepali delegation to the UNGA and Foreign Minister of El Salvador, Hugo Roger Martinez Bonilla, who is in New York to attend the UNGA, signed the communiqué.

With this, the Central American republic- El Salvador- has become the 144th nation with which Nepal has established diplomatic ties, according to Foreign Secretary Sanker Das Bairagi. 


On the occasion, Nepal and El Salvador pledged to exchange cooperation between the two countries at the bilateral level in the areas of mutual interest as well as economic, social and other sectors. 


Foreign Minister Martinez expressed his happiness over the establishment of diplomatic relation with Nepal. 


Both the Foreign Ministers also affirmed to take the bilateral relations between the two countries to a new height. RSS
