KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The government of Nepal has deplored the hydrogen bomb test as announced by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Wednesday.

"Nepal views that such an act would be detrimental to the international nuclear non-proliferation efforts as well as the peace, unity and stability on the Korean peninsula," reads a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

"Nepal upholds a consistent policy of general and complete disarmament of all weapons of mass destruction and is against the carrying out of any nuclear test."

The statement further said that Nepal believes in settling all international disputes by peaceful means in line with the United Nations charter and the Principles of International Law.
