Nepal competing in World Weightlifting Championship after 16 years

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: Nepal is participating in the World Weightlifting Championship after 16 years.

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: Nepal is participating in the World Weightlifting Championship after 16 years.


Five players including three men and two women would compete in the World Championship scheduled in Riyadh of Saudi Arabia from September 3-17.

Bikas Bhatta would compete in the men's 81-kg category, Bishal Singh Bista under 96-kg category and Sagar Bhandari in the 109-kg category.


Similarly, Tikamaya Gurung would compete under women's 55-kg category and Sharada Chaudhary under 64-kg category.


Jeevan Gautam as coach, Ram Sundar Shrestha as manager and Parth Sarathi Gupt as judge are also in the team.


Extending best wishes to the Nepali team for the success, Member-Secretary at the National Sports Council, Tanka Lal Ghising, bade farewell.
