Nepal-China JCM meeting begins in KTM

KATHMANDU, June 20: The 11th meeting of the Joint Consultation Mechanism between Nepal and China began in Kathmandu after a gap of four years.

A six-member Chinese delegation led by Chinese Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kong Xuanyou has arrived in Kathmandu. Xuanyou heads the Asia and Consular Affairs Department at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Nepali Foreign Ministry, the meeting will primarily focus entire issues of bilateral relations and review the implementation status of bilateral deals reached between the two countries.

The meeting is expected to dwell upon the bilateral deals signed between China and Nepal during the visits of two former Prime Ministers - KP Sharma Oli and Puspa Kamal Dahal- to China. The One Belt One Road initiative of China and being its signatory, Nepal will also seek support in building infrastructure.

Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi is leading the Nepali delegation in the meeting.
