Nepal, China agree on customs system reform

KATHMANDU, Oct 25: The customs officials from Nepal and China have agreed on reforming customs system and curbing gold smuggling.



According to Deputy Director General at the Customs Department, Damodar Regmi, the recent 26th meeting between the customs officials from Nepal and Tibet Autonomous Region of China agreed on giving easy access of Nepali goods to Tibet and trade between the countries through the letter of credit to make the bilateral trade more lawful.[break]



During the meeting lasted for four days, the officials from both sides shared the problems they faced on trade and discussed how they could solve the problems. Also, the meeting reviewed the implementation status of previous meeting.



Deputy Director General Regmi said both sides would work actively to curb the smuggling of goods including gold. Similarly, China will make efforts on giving recognition to the certificate of standards (quarantine) issued by Nepal.
