Nepal celebrates the day of disabled persons

KATHMANDU, Dec 3: International Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated in Nepal Friday by organising several programmes with the slogan—"Keeping the promise: Mainstreaming disability in the Millennium Development Goals towards 2015 and beyond".



On the occasion, the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal (NFDN) organised a rally to promote a better understanding of disability issues with a focus on the rights of persons with disabilities. [break]



The rally that started from Bhirkutimandap rounded Putalisadak, Bagbazaar, Ratnapark and converged into an assembly at Khulamanch.



Addressing the gathering, President of NFDN Birendra Raj Pokharel said that the state should ensure the rights of the people living with disability in the new constitution.
