Nepal beats Malaysia by one wicket (photo feature)

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Nepal defeated Malaysia by one wicket in its third match of the ongoing ACC U-19 Asia Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Nepal reached the 154 runs target set by Malaysia losing nine wickets in 44.4 overs. It is the first win for Nepal in the tournament. Nepal had suffered two consecutive defeats at the hands of Sri Lanka and India.

Anil Sah top-scored for Nepal at 32 runs as Dipendra Singh Airee made 22 runs. Avinash Karn and Pawan Sarraf contributed equal 29 runs.

Virandeep Singh of Malaysia sent three Nepali batsmen back to the pavilion. Syed Aziz, Muhammad Hafiz and Muhammad Amir took equal two wickets.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Malaysia was all out at 153 runs in 44.4 overs. Virandeep Singh contributed 75 runs off 118 balls hitting seven fours. Muhammad Hasif and Saif Ullah Malik scored 21 and 11 runs respectively.

Aadil Khan of Nepal took three wickets as Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee grabbed two wickets each.
