Ireland Wolves defeat Nepal 'A' by 114 runs

KATHMANDU, April 5: In the second one-day practice match against Ireland Wolves, Nepal 'A' suffered a humiliating defeat due to the disappointing performance of their batters.


In the first one-day match that was held on Wednesday, the Nepali team bowled out the Irish team for 157 runs in 38.3 overs, thanks to an excellent performance by the Nepali bowlers.


However, in today’s match, although the Nepali bowlers managed to restrict the Irish team to 174 runs, the batters faltered.  Nepal ‘A’ were bowled out for just 60 runs and suffered a shameful defeat by 114 runs.

Nepal ‘A’ won the toss and decided to field first in the match played at TU International Cricket Ground on Friday. 


For Nepal,  Shahab Alam and Rijin Dhakal took three wickets each, while Kamal Singh Airee took one wicket and Mausam Dhakal took two wickets.  


Ireland's batter Gavin Hoey managed to score the highest 50 runs in 59 balls. Neil Rock scored 45 off 38 balls. Similarly, Liam McCarthy scored 31 runs off 52 balls and PJ Moor 17 runs off as many balls. 


However, Nepal’s batting lineup chasing 175 runs, could not withstand the Irish bowlers, lasting less than 17 overs.


As per the schedule, the final match of the series will be played on Sunday.
