Participating in an interaction program organized by the CA's Citizen Relations and Constitution Suggestion Committee (CRCSC) on draft constitution in the capital on Monday, Nembang said that new constitution is most likely to be delivered within a month."The CA will promulgate new constitution by mid August, we are working to meet the target," he said clarifying that, though CA have not made any specific calendar, political parties have understanding to promulgate new constitution by mid August.
On the occasion, Nembang urged political parties, those boycotting CA process and remaining outside it, for submitting their feedbacks to the CA while assuring them of accommodating their feedbacks in the new statute. "Since the draft constitution is document of compromise, it includes common ideas of all parties rather than all ideas of all parties," said Nembang at the program participated by lawmakers and representatives from Federation of Nepali Journalist (FNJ) and Nepal Bar Association (NBA).
Chairman of the NBA, Harikrishna Karki suggested the CA to improve various provisions in the draft. "I am not convinced with various provisions in the draft, they seems to be incomplete and must be revised," said Karki.
FNJ President Mahendra Bista assured that the media fraternity will assist in making positive environment for collecting public feedback on constitution draft. Commenting on the contents of the constitution, Bista expressed doubt on some provisions related to the press in the draft and stressed on revising clauses that might restrict freedom.
"We are worried with intention of the new constitution rather than its wordings. We suggest revising some doubtful restrictive clauses," said Bista.
Responding to the concerns put forward, lawmakers Radheshyam Adhikari, Bhim Rawal and Ramnayaran Bidari assured that new constitution guarantees democratic norms and values.
