Speaking at a function in Hetauda, Nembang said, “Yes, the legislature-parliament has been disrupted frequently. But the meeting of the CA has been going on smoothly.” He said the CA could not hold its meeting last week due to general strike enforced by the Maoists, but at other times the work was going on smoothly.
“All the CA committees are doing their work at a considerable speed,” he said, adding, “If the political parties agree on certain disputed provisions, the country will get a new constitution on May 28, 2010.”
Nembang said that the country would plunge into crisis if the political parties fail to reach consensus. “There is no alternative to consensus,” he said. The CA chairman also called on the political leaders not to make pessimistic arguments. He also expressed concern over the frequent disruption of parliamentary proceedings.
“Disruption of parliament means stifling the voices of people,” he said. Nembang argued that parliament should not be disrupted if it is to be made responsible to people.
