NEA to hike electricity tariff

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is planning to hike the electricity tariff by 30 percent.



Speaking at a program in the capital on Friday, NEA managing director Jivendra Jha said that final list of new tariff rate was sent to Ministry of Energy for approval. [break]



The present tariff rate will be replaced by the new one once the ministry approves it, Jha added.



Jha also said that the power outrage would go up to 14 hours in the winter season and made it clear that country would have to continue reeling under power crisis for next six to seven years.
