KATHMANDU, Sept 29: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has revised the deadline for businesses to clear outstanding dues on dedicated and trunk lines, extending it until October 19.
Earlier, NEA had issued a 21-day notice with the due date set for November 3. However, in its latest notice today, the deadline has been corrected to October 19.

The decision follows a meeting of NEA’s board of directors on Friday, which, in line with Energy Minister Kulman Ghising’s direction, endorsed the move to collect the dues. The authority has allowed industries to settle payments in 28 installments.
According to NEA, the total outstanding dues from dedicated and trunk lines amount to Rs 8.25 billion. The installment facility has been introduced to ease the burden on businesses while ensuring gradual recovery of the arrears.
