Ncell has asked its dealers to sell SIM cards at the amount fixed by the company. Though it has fixed the price of pre-paid SIM card bundled with a handset by ZTE Corporation at Rs 999, customers complained that dealers were charging them as much as Rs 1,500. [break]
A local of Madanchowk in Dhankuta said he could buy a pre-paid SIM card priced Rs 100 at Rs 150 after bargaining for hours.
Similarly, Binod Adhikari of Dhankuta Multiple Campus said he was forced to pay Rs 200 to buy Ncell pre-paid SIM card priced Rs 100. He further said it was very difficult to get SIM card at the price fixed by the company in Dhankuta and surrounding areas.
However, retailers defended the move saying they were forced to impose additional fee as they had to bring SIM cards and recharge cards from as far as Dharan. They also said the company was not giving additional extra commission for them.
Nawaraj Shrestha, a retailer at Madanchowk, said they had no option but to sell SIM cards at Rs 125 to Rs 200 because they have to bear travel expenses on their own. He also said all retailers in Dhankuta were selling SIM cards at the same rate.
Customers also said they were not getting Ncell recharge cards at the price fixed by the company. They said retailers were charging Rs 55 for a recharge card priced Rs 51 by the company.
