KATHMANDU, Feb 5: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided not to run against the CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate for the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly.
NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak said that the office-bearers and ex-officers held a meeting on Sunday and decided not to run for the post of National Assembly vice-president.
The Lekhak said that after discussions with the opposition parties, the decision was reached not to contest for the post of Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly.
The ruling alliance is preparing to nominate Urmila Aryal from CPN (Maoist Centre) as the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly. Aryal will be elected unopposed if the opposition parties do not nominate candidates.
