NC stresses democratic process on govt formation

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: The meeting of the central office bearers of the Nepali Congress has alerted the party leadership against compromising on democratic norms and values while forming the election government.



The meeting held at the residence of party President Sushil Koirala on Sunday stressed the need of a consensus in package in adherence to the principle of separation of power to ensure the elections.[break]



Spokesperson of the party, Dilendra Prasad Badu, said the NC finally agreed to the leadership of the Chief Justice in view of the impartiality of the Supreme Court, although it had kept the door open for all options for government leadership.



According to him, some office bearers in the meeting said the CJ should be made the prime minister only after his resignation.



Similarly, they demanded that the party discuss the package deal on government formation, to be developed by the four-party taskforce, in the central working committee.
