KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Udaya Shumsher Rana of Nepali Congress (NC) won the election to the member of House of Representatives (HoR) from constituency no. 1 of Lalitpur district by securing 23,892 votes. Rana defeated CPN-UML’s Nawa Raj Silwal with the margin of 4,614 votes. Silwal got 19,278 votes.
In the last HoR election, Silwal had defeated Rana from the same constituency in Lalitpur.
Likewise, Dr Sachin Ghimire of Rastriya Swatantra Party obtained 3,277 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Sandip Acharya obtained 1,641 votes.

Out of 74,397 voters in the constituency, altogether 50,773 votes were cast in the constituency. According to the EC, a total of 1,802 votes were declared invalid.
Similarly, Nepali Congress (NC)’ Min Krishna Maharjan emerged victorious in the Province Assembly elections from Lalitpur-1 (B) by defeating UML’s candidate Chetnath Sanjel with a margin of 4,214 votes.
According to Returning Officer Bal Krishna Niraula, Maharjan got 13,378 votes while Sanjel managed to secure 9,164 votes. Of the total 37,614 votes, only 25,731 votes were cast in the constituency. Of them, 677 votes were declared invalid.
In the last Province Assembly elections, Maharjan and Sanjel were the competitors in the same constituency where Sanjel had secured victory by obtaining 12,866 votes.
