POKHARA, Dec 19: Newly-elected Joint General Secretary of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Jeevan Pariyar has said that the party's main focus will be on the upcoming local elections.
At a press meet organized by Nepal Press Union Kaski, Pariyar said that the party would hold election-centric activities after the completion of the party's general convention related programs.
Previously companions, now competitors
He said that there was a lot of enthusiasm in the party after the General Convention and added that the NC will be the biggest party in the upcoming election. “We need to make NC a bigger and stronger party,” he said.
He also said that the current ruling alliance including the NC that was formed for equalization of power, will not continue till the next election. “Congress cannot go to the election together like UML and Maoists in the past. There may be cooperation in case of some leaders in one or two places, but the current alliance will not be intact in the election,” Pariyar said.
Similarly, he said that the party would not have the same fate as in the past as it was the responsibility of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to unite the party. He also said that in order to unite the party, it was necessary to leave the politics of factions and move forward by including all cadres.
