HETAUDA, Nov 22: Nepali Congress(NC) Joint General Secretary Mahalakshmi Upadhyaya ‘Dina’, who is the candidate for the post of the House of Representatives member from Makwanpur constituency-1 on behalf of the ruling coalition, has continued to maintain her lead.

When the counting of votes cast in two wards of Bagmati and Bakaiya rural municipalities concluded, Upadhyay maintained her lead by 2,491 votes. While Upadhyaya received 7,607 votes, her nearest rival Kamal Thapa, who contested the election with the symbol of sun, received 5,116 votes.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate Deepak Bahadur Singh has received 2,383 votes. This constituency covers 15 wards of Bakaiya and Bagmati rural municipalities and Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City and four wards of Makwanpur Gadhi.
