His remarks come at a time when leaders close to Sher Bahadur Deuba have publicly been demanding that Koirala share three key posts -- vice president, general secretary and joint general secretary -- besides 21 CWC members, with them. [break]
Speaking at a press meet organized at his residence in Maharajgunj Sunday morning, Koirala asked all party leaders defeated in the central election to accept the results as the politics of division within the party would invite fresh disputes and differences.
"It is unfortunate that senior leaders have been making remarks in public for sharing key posts," said Koirala.
Koirala said whether or not to nominate leaders from other faction of the party would rest on the discretion of elected president and hence he would take a decision after holding discussions in the party.
There are a total 85 members in the party´s Central Working Committee (CWC) including the president, general secretary and treasurer. While Koirala was elected as the party president, his running mate Prakash Man Singh was elected general secretary. Similarly, Chitra Lekha Yadav from the Deuba panel secured the berth of party´s treasurer.
Commenting on the current political deadlock over the prime ministerial election, Koirala said that NC would not withdraw its candidacy for the prime minister as it would lead to constitutional vacuum in the country. “NC would not withdraw its candidacy without reaching an agreement on alternatives,” he added.
Koirala blamed the Maoists for the current political deadlock in the country. He said NC has staked claim on government leadership as the government led by both the Maoists and NC had failed to take the peace process to its logical end and promulgate the new constitution.
"Nepali Congress will not be a part of the government without forging agreement on issues related to peace process, constitution drafting," he said. He also accused the Maoists of conspiring to invite instability in the country by pressing NC to withdraw its prime ministerial candidacy.
