NC Prez directs cadres to be ready for anti-govt protests

CHITWAN, Jan 22: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai should step down to pave way for the formation of a national unity government.



Koirala also accused Prime Minister Bhattarai of being a power hungry leader. Speaking at a cadres´ meet in Chitwan this morning, the NC president also warned of launching stern agitations against the government if the opposition parties´ frequent calls to resign were neglected.[break]



Koirala urged the cadres to be ready for agitations against the UCPN-Maoist and the Bhattarai-led government saying that this government was the main hindrance to political consensus.



He expressed belief that the anti-government protests will be expedited from Chitwan as this district is in the frontline in every issue.



The NC president said that the UCPN-Maoist could not been trusted as it has been changing its stances.
