PALPA, March 16: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today urged the protesting Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) to end violence and join talks. The government must take initiatives in this regard, he said at a press conference organised here by the Press Union Palpa branch.
In a different context, he said government encroachment on press freedom was no longer tolerable. Saying the NC and democracy are synonymous, the former Prime Minister clarified that the party was in favour of Hindu religion and follows the constitution. He also criticised the incumbent government for underperformance in a year's time.
