According to NC General Secretary Prakash Man Singh, the ongoing parliamentary board meeting could finalize the list of FPTP candidates in 235 constituencies by Tuesday. [break]
"We are yet to finalize the candidates for about five constituencies. The selection of candidates in the remaining constituencies will also be finalized soon," he told media persons Tuesday evening at party headquarters in Sanepa.
NC, however, has not officially made public the list of FPTP candidates selected so far amid protests by those loyal to the dissenting leaders. NC top leaders said they will make the FPTP list public on Wednesday after concluding the selection process of candidates under FPTP.
NC influential leader Khum Bahadur Khadka, who is currently in jail, meanwhile, expressed reservations over the distribution of election tickets. Issuing a press statement Tuesday, Khadka also announced that his spouse Sheela won´t contest in the election as announced earlier from Dang constituency number 1.
Another General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula told media that selection of the party´s candidates under the proportional electoral system was also under way. "We will be able to finalize the list under the proportional representation system within the next two days," he said.
Sitaula said they have yet to finalize the FPTP candidates selection process in Syangja and Tanahun districts. Differences have surfaced over the candidacy of Gopal Man Singh from constituency number 2 of Syangja district and the candidacy of Shankar Bhandari and Gobinda Raj Joshi in constituency number 1 of Tanahu district.
NC parliamentary board that met almost throughout Monday night had distributed nomination letters to over 200 FPTP candidates, especially those hailing from outlying districts Tuesday. The NC plans to distribute nomination letters to FPTP candidates for Kathmandu Valley constituencies on Wednesday.
According to preliminary decision, NC has decided to field General Secretary Prakash Man Singh from Kathmandu-1, Pratima Gautam from Kathmandu--2, Chakra Thakuri from Kathmandu-3, Gagan Thapa from Kathmandu-4, Narahari Acharya from Kathmandu-5, Bhimsendas Pradhan from Kathmandu-6, Pramila Singh Dangol from Kathmandu-7, Nabindra Raj Joshi from Kathmandu-8, Dhyan Gobinda Ranjit from Kathmandu-9 and Rajan KC from Kathmandu-10.
Likewise in Lalitpur district, NC will field Udaya SJB Rana from constituency number 1, Chandra Maharjan from 2 and Madan Bahadur Amatya from constituency number 3. NC is mulling to field Krishna Lal Bhandel from Bhaktapur-1 and Rameshwar Dhungel from Bhaktapur-2.
