Kathmandu, Oct 26: Nepali Congress Monday hosted a tea reception on the occasion of the Bijaya Dashami Festival. The reception was held at Tripureshwor-based Dashrath Stadium.
Party President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretaries Prakashman Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula welcomed the guests to the reception.
Lack of conservation area for rare tea plant
Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Onsari Gharti, UCPN (Maoist) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (UML) senior leaders and former Prime Ministers Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) Chair Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and Rastriya Janamorcha Chair Chitra Bahadur KC were among those joining the reception.
Until last year, the NC was organising the Dashain reception at the party central office Sanepa and this time decided to change the venue. The party has been organising the reception on the Kojagrat Poornima ( the concluding day) of the Bada Dashain Festival since 2035 BS.
On the occasion, party President Sushil Koirala said that mutual understanding, cooperation and unity among political parties were needed to implement the new constitution, a significant achievement of the Nepali people. He was of the view of seeking a way out to the existing problems in the country, wishing peace, prosperity and happiness of the entire Nepali people at home and abroad on the occasion of this festival.
