BIRATNAGAR, Feb 10: The Province 1 Province assembly session today could not continue its proceedings due to the obstruction from the major opposition Nepali Congress.
With the commencement of session which had begun around 20 minutes late, the NC lawmakers stood from their respective seats as a mark of their protest.
This is the third time the party obstructed the PA over the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)'s move to file a case against party parliamentary deputy leader Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar on the Lalita Niwas land procurement scam.
The CIAA has filed a lawsuit against 175 people including the party leader at the Special Court.
Though speaker Pradeep Kumar Bhandari frequently urged the opposition members for their cooperation in keeping the PA running, the lawmakers refused to take their seats.
Speaker Bhandari said the matter could not be addressed through the PA as it had already entered the court, drawing their attention towards maintaining the PA supremacy.
The session has been adjourned till 1:00 pm tomorrow.
Province minister for industry, forest and environment Jagadish Prasad Kusiyat was scheduled to present the bill in regard with the protection of Province's environment in today's meeting.
