NC objects to prorogation of House session

KATHMANDU, April 20: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress has expressed its reservation to the sudden ending of the ongoing session of the House of Representatives (HoR). 



A NC central working committee meeting on MOnday concluded that it was against democratic norms and values to shy away from parliament.

The HoR meeting scheduled for Tuesday was scheduled to discuss some pertinent issues but it was neglected, the CWC said, according to the NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.


On a different note, the NC also demanded that the government develop and implement a special work plan to protect the lives of people from the increasing threat of COVID-19. It also decided to demand with the government to import a sufficient number of COVID-19 vaccines and inoculate every citizen.


Meanwhiile, the CWC also designated April 28 as the deadline for renewal of active members and entry of the new active membership in the computer software. The district reports on active membership renewal and distribution has to be submitted to the party's central office by April 30.


The meeting was held under the chairmanship of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
