NC leader Shashanka to vie for party presidency

PANCHATHAR, March 15: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shashanka Koirala has said that he would file candidacy for the post of party president in the upcoming general convention of the party if the cadres favored him.

Addressing the party cadres here today, leader Koirala added that a new figure should emerge as the party president as the cadres were found divided on the side of President Sushil Koirala and senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.He further said that a new constitution would be issued even through voting process if consensus bid failed. Leader Koirala said that though the consensus based constitution would be long lasting, they could not wait for long, expecting the same.

Disputes over federalism, electoral system, judiciary and form of governance have created current political deadlock, leader Koirala added. RSS
