KATHMANDU, August 2: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel expressed his sorrow over the demise of mother of NC central member Govinda Bhattarai.
"Death of Basundhara Bhattarai, mother of Govinda, has saddened me. Her demise has caused an irreparable loss to the party," he said in a message of condolence today. The leader also extended his condolence to the bereaved family and wished for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Likewise, NC central members Shankar Bhandari and Pradip Poudel also offered their sorrow over her demise. Basundhara died on Thursday night at her residence in Byas municipality-11 in Tanahun district. She was 72.
Last rites of her are to be conducted at Setimai Ghat in Damauli today itself, said the family. She is survived by her three sons and three daughters
