KATHMANDU, July 24: Participating in the parliamentary debate on the no-confidence motion registered by some political parties including the main opposition Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel stressed on continuing the culture of consensus and partnership even after the formation of the new government.

He urged all to understand the geopolitics of the country. Poudel added that no one should devaluate the prestigious post of the President. He expected positive support from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after the formation of the new government to implement the constitution. He urged the lawmakers to use proper words rather sensational words like 'genocide'.

Similarly, lawmaker Dhaniram Sharma added that they were compelled to register the vote-of no-confidence motion due to irresponsibility of the government.

Lawmaker Mahesh Acharya suggested PM Oli to resign from the post to ease the new government formation process. He even opined to not draw the president into the dispute.

CPN (UML)'s Rajendra Pandey said no remarks that undermine the dignity and self-esteem of others should be made inside the parliament. Calling on other political parties to be serious towards the future of the country and people, he claimed that UML had no greed for power. The UML was ready to stay in opposition rendering constructive support.

Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat of Nepali Congress claimed that the Oli-led government was orienting towards proving itself as 'a model of bad governance'. He accused the incumbent government of overlooking the needs of earthquake survivors. He urged the Prime Minister not to undermine the importance of parliamentary practices and democratic system.

UML's Sushil Nepal said it was a misfortune for the nation that the no-trust motion was filed against the government that has always acted in the 'interests' of the nation and people. Gokarna Bista from the same party said making remarks hurting the dignity of others while delivering views on the no-trust motion would invite conflict in future. The UML is and would always be committed towards republic, democracy and federalism.

CPN (Maoist Center)'s Shakti Bahadur Basnet underlined the need of maintaining political unity amidst diversity and discouraging the culture of practicing politics of negation.

The meeting has been put off until 16.45 pm today. RSS
