KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded the government to come up with an action plan in order to control Dengue outbreak.

Speaking at the House of Representatives, NC lawmaker Pushpa Bhusal asked the government to prepare the concrete action plan in order to control Dengue outbreak and submit it to the Parliament. Speaking at the zero hour of the parliament, Bhusal expressed concern over the  Dengue outbreak across the country. "Now the country is struggling with the biggest ever dengue outbreak. The government has failed to bring the Dengue under the control even though thousands of people have been affected by the disease."

Bhusal urged Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara to take initiative for bringing the action plan at the parliament.

Bhusal suggested the government to scrap the posts of vector controllers at the Ministry of Health and Population saying that those posts will have no meaning if the concerned authorities fail to control the Dengue outbreak.

Likewise, another lawmaker Dila Sangraula criticized the government for not taking the measures to control the Dengue outbreak.

According to the Epidemiology and Diseases Control Division, over 4,962 people have been affected by dengue this year so far, the largest ever recorded in Nepal.
