NC lawmakers disrupt parliament

KATHMANDU, July 27: The main opposition Nepali Congress obstructed in the Parliament on Wednesday as well demanding that the five-point agreement be implemented.



The House session got postponed without holding any discussion due to protests by Congress lawmakers. NC has been disrupting the House for the past three days after its Central Committee directed it lawmakers to press for the implementation of the five-point pact.[break]



As soon as Speaker Subash Nembang announced the start of Wednesday’s meeting, NC lawmakers started the protest.



NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi said the government instead of paving way by stepping down has been trying to reshuffle the Cabinet. The protests in the Parliament were to draw the government’s attention to implement the agreement, he said.



“We will continue to disrupt the House unless the five-point agreement is implemented, he said.



Despite the protests, Speaker Nembang tried his best to resume the House session by requesting NC lawmakers to allow discussions on the Apportion Bill as it has to be discussed by July 30.



NC Chief Whip Laxman Prasad Ghimire said the Prime Minister should resign for the formation of a national consensus government. The Parliament meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 3 pm.
