KATHMANDU, Feb 2: The Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party has instructed MPs not to leave the capital during the upcoming Parliament session.

A meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party held on Friday instructed the MPs not to leave the capital Kathmandu during the upcoming Parliament session. According to NC chief whip Ramesh Lekhak, parliament meetings and committee meetings had to be adjourned in the past due to the lack of quorum; therefore, it has been decided to make the presence of MPs mandatory. He said that the Parliamentary Party meeting has decided that NC MPs should attend committee meetings unhindered and work effectively.

Lekhak clarified that if one has to leave the capital for any urgent work, they will require a written approval from the chief whip or the whip of the NC Parliamentary Party.

The meeting has also requested the government to make attendance of ministers mandatory in the assembly and committee meetings.
