KATHMANDU, April 4: The Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party has expressed worry over delay in constitution-writing and peace process holding the ruling UCPN (M) responsible for it. “…The Maoists have been the biggest obstacle for the peace process and constitution-drafting,” Nabindra Raj Joshi, spokesperson of the NC parliamentary party, said in a statement on Monday.

Accusing the Maoists of not being sincere about completion of the peace process and the implementation of other peace agreements, the parliamentary party has expressed concern over the functioning of the sub-committee under the Constitutional Committee. [break]

“The UCPN (M) has been playing a game to make the sub-committee [under the Constitutional Committee] defunct,” the party further said.

The party urged all concerned to take initiatives to remove the existing obstacles as early as possible to complete the constitution-drafting and the peace process by May 28.
